Kelly Hoppen is a global design force in her own right. First and foremost a designer, her career has taken her to the heights of fame and seen her become a household name. In this exclusive ‘in conversation’, we hear from Kelly on how she started out, her key influences, and how she came to build her design empire.

Kelly Hoppen

Kelly Hoppen MBE is a multi-award winning interior designer with over 40 years of experience. Having changed the face of the design industry, she is one of the most sought-after designers of her generation and proudly creates multi-faceted interior spaces all over the world. Kelly’s ever-evolving style, defined by a subtle fusion of clean lines and neutral tones and intuitively balanced with an opulent warmth, has been honoured with numerous prestigious awards and accolades globally.

Kelly has put her stamp on the homes, yachts and jets of private clients as well as commercial projects including hotels, bars, restaurants, offices, super yachts and apartment block developments of magnitude with private function floors. With thousands of projects spanning the last four decades, Kelly’s portfolio boasts a diverse selection of projects and provides “ideation” for brands and hotels across the world.

In recent years, Kelly’s career has expanded into TV and film and is often featured on some of the biggest Television shows, including ITV’s This Morning sharing her expertise to members public. In 2013, she became an investor on BBC Two’s hit show Dragon’s Den, appeared in BBC Two’s The Great Interior Design Challenge as a judge on the show and most recently appeared as a guest judge in Interior Design Masters on BBC Two and Netflix.

Passionate about making her design ethos accessible to the masses, in 2014 she launched e-commerce store, kellyhoppen.com. The Kelly Hoppen brand, keeping true to its core values of high quality, simplicity and timeless elegance, has partnered with numerous selected brands. In previous years, Kelly has also collaborated with a number of diverse brands including Samsung, Ryvita, L’Occitane, Polypipe, Hotpoint, Wedgwood, Charbonnel et Walker Chocolates and many more.

A dedicated supporter of numerous good causes, and the championing and nurturing of young entrepreneurs, Kelly is an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and sits on their committee. She is also a proud ambassador for the Government’s GREAT campaign, avid campaigner for anti-bullying, and supporter of the Diana Awards and a connector for BAFTA. In 2017 and 2018, Kelly collaborated with Tess Daly to launch their limited edition TRUST candle, in aid of the Prince’s Trust.

Jan Henderson

Jan Henderson was lately acting-editor of Indesign magazine and is now contributing across the breadth of Indesign products as well as Program Director of the INDE.Awards 2021. Her previous roles have included associate publisher at Architecture Media for three years, co-editor of inside magazine and Interiors editor of Architel.tv for the past six years. As Principal of Henderson Media Consultants she contributes to various architecture and design magazines, is a regular speaker at events and has participated as a juror for industry awards. Jan is passionate about design and through her different roles supports and contributes to design in Australia.
