Super Design comes to Singapore

In under a week, all corners of the globe will be connected in 2020’s most collaborative design festival. Bringing together a unique combination of digital, physical and on-demand activations, Super Design is an event like no other – breaking down barriers of time and space to truly offer design without limits. Coming to you over a fortnight from November 16-27, get ready to build your own lineup from sessions hosted by the best in design locally, regionally and from around the globe.

Singapore has always been a hub for design, informing many of the conversations around Asia Pacific design narratives. With this in mind – Super Design is proud to present a supercharged line-up from the best in the Singapore design space, featuring the brands and people you know and love.

Euroluce and Flos present: Finding the Light: Q&A with Michael Anastassiades

Join us for an exclusive live virtual Q&A with preeminent lighting designer Michael Anastassiades as he talks about his inspirations and processes when designing, as well as insights into his latest collection for Flos – Coordinates.

The Cypriot-born, London based designer has created an exceptional range of lighting throughout his career, with many of his designs for Flos becoming iconic in their own right – Captain Flint, String Light, IC Lights, and Arrangements to name a few.

Flokk presents: Global Designer Collaborations, by Offect of Sweden

The world is already full of products. That’s why all Flokk’s brands, always demand that their products make the world a little better. Offecct is one of our Swedish furniture brands, developing innovative products on the planet’s terms.

In collaboration with designers from all over the world, Offecct push the boundaries for techniques and sustainable solutions forward and delivers ground-breaking products.

This session shares insights into the design process of newly released products Soundsticks by Andrea Ruggerio, Waka by David Trubridge and Maki by Jin Kuramoto.

All inspiring and unique designs with focus on people, architecture, high quality and sustainability.

Kreon presents: Explore Light and Shadow with Kreon

As light defines shadow, shadow delineates light. In this session we explore the possibilities that can shine on a project bringing an interior to life in all its glory. It’s simply about the best product and placement and Kreon has the answers. Whether it is lighting for the home or office, a cafe or bar, lighting sets the scene and becomes the conduit for better design. As light is integral to living so shadow enhances light but for this to be correct it takes skill and application.

Here, Kreon launches two new products that will ‘light the way’ and all at the flick of a zoom switch.

King presents: King Design Insider – Behind the Scenes with David Hardwick

What is it that makes a product great and a company an exemplar? These are questions that can be difficult to answer unless we are talking of King furniture and it’s singular collections. Before a finished product is placed on the floor, there is a complex process of design thinking coupled with experience and collaboration to explore.

In this session, join David Hardwick, Head of Product at King, as he guides us through the journey of design and provides a wealth of insight hitherto unknown.

This is your opportunity to become a King Design Insider and find out everything there is to know about this outstanding furniture manufacturer.

Flokk presents: Out of Office: the New Working Culture

Never before have we spent so much time working out of the office. As home, civic and public spaces adapt to meet our competing work-life needs, we see a complex blending of typologies that indeed filters right back into the workplace. Where will it all land?

In this session, Simon Pole (Unispace), Sue Fenton (Woods Bagot), Kirsti Simpson (HASSELL) and Nic Brunsdon (Nic Brunsdon) analyses those rapid shifts to forecast a future of hybrid spaces.

Neolith presents: The Culture of Collaboration

In this live session, moderator Alice Blackwood is joined by Olivia Lee (Olivia Lee), Nathan Karpenko (CDK Stone) and Andrea Johnston (Neolith) for an exploration of collaboration and the beauty of stone. Olivia Lee will take audiences through the process and narrative behind a special one-off product created through a collaboration with CDK Stone and Neolith.

On display in the CDK showroom, this must-attend event is an exclusive look at the story behind the design, the material and the deeply authentic creative process of one of the region’s best young designers.

Porta presents: Well, Designed: Health and Wellbeing in Post-Pandemic Times

Personal wellness has never felt so important. More than just a lifestyle pursuit, health and wellbeing has quickly become an everyday imperative for home, work, and within the public sphere.

Join Alicia McKimm (Golden), Dale O’Brien (Gray Puksand), Richard Healy (Bates Smart) and Lisa Gasperotti (Porta Mouldings) as we explore the meaning of wellness in a post-pandemic world, how biophilic design can influence our lives for the better and how designers are creating a roadmap for better living going forward.

Sculptform presents: The Winning Process

What does it take to design an award-winning project? Does it begin at the briefing end, or does it come down to clever awards submissions? We hear first-hand from the designers, suppliers and end users who have led projects from concept through to award-win.

Leone Lorrimer (GHDWoodhead Australia), Greg Hogg (Hogg & Lamb), Tristan Wong (SJB) and Jeremy Napier (Sculptform) will share their insights into the vision and process that put their projects top of the game, and help you understand how to achieve industry recognition for your work.

V-ZUG presents: Beyond Carbon Neutral

Sustainability might be a given in modern-day design terms, but there are many ways to be sustainable and make a positive impact. Featuring panellists Liam Wallis (HIP V. HYPE), Rebecca Trenorden (Carr), Jan O’Connor (Environa) and David Kaunitz (Kaunitz Yeung Architecture), this session is your chance to take a layered look at sustainability in design. From client-driven values to process, practice and outcome. We go wide to look at the bigger picture, before diving down into the finer detail.

Didier presents: Interior Landscaping with the New Puffalo Universal Group

After the successful introduction of the deluxe Puffalo lounging, Ross Didier has extended the collection and created a significant new modular program called the Puffalo Universal Group. Be there as the collection is officially launched!

Universal Group brings a softer and more human centric approach to non-residential interiors including a broad selection of sofa modules, desking, ottomans, tablet tables and partition screens, where the pieces can be simply joined-together then reconfigured without any specialist skills or tools.
